Incubus(インキュバス)

ヴォーカリストのブランドンと、ドラムのホゼは同じ小学校に通っていた。
Incubusの名前のゆらいはキリスト教の悪魔のひとつの夢魔（むま, 淫魔とも）からきている、夢魔は、夢魔のうち男性型のインキュバス（Incubus：インクブスとも）は睡眠中の女性を襲い、子を産ませる。
中学でギターのマイク、高校ではジャズバンドにいたベースのアレックスに知り合う。
彼ら４人がバンドを結成したのは１９９１年、１０年生（高１）の時であった。次第にL.A.近郊のクラブなどでプレイし始め注目を浴びるようになった彼らは、高校卒業後、１９９５年に自主制作アルバム　“Fungus Amongus”でデビューした。
最初はミクスチャー・ロックに取り入れたユニークな存在として欧米では人気を博してきた。のちに唄やメロディーを重視した曲作りに邁進する。
