Dave Matthews Band(デイヴ・マシューズ・バンド)って？

Dave Matthews Band(デイヴ・マシューズ・バンド) 1991年アメリカのヴァージニア州シャーロッツビルで結成。ヴァージニアの人気ローカル・バンドから一躍アメリカ全土を席巻するバンドへ。
ジャズ・クラブでバーテンダーをしながら曲を書き溜めていたデイヴ・マシューズが、デモ・テープ制作を思い立ったことが結成のきっかけだ。
ドラマーのカーター・ビューフォード、サキソフォニストのリロイ・ムーアのアシスタントを得ることになった。２人は地元シャーロッツビルの音楽シーンでジャズ・ミュージシャンとして活動していた。ベースには地元ジャズ・シーンの顔役、ジョン・ダースの推薦で、当時わずか１６歳のステファン・レザードが迎えられ、キーボードにピーター・グリーザー（数年後彼はバンドを去った）、そしてヴァイオリンにはクラシックのトレーニングを積んだボイド・ティンズレーが参加し、バンドは今の形となった。
ジャズ畑出身なので普段ジャズしか聴かない方も、聞いてみて欲しい。
